Submission deadline: June 28, 2025

What to Expect

An electronic sign-up will be available Sunday, June 1. Instructions for submitting a video audition will be published Sunday, June 1. Submissions will be accepted June 1 through 3 p.m. on June 28. Casting, prayer groups, and the 2026 FYDC Missions Team will be announced Sunday, June 29. Students will have until July 6 to accept or decline their roles. Students who decline after the deadline are subject to tuition charges.

Students will be assigned to an auditioning studio and a warm-up studio. All auditioning students are asked to prepare and leave their bags in the warm-up studio, and enter the audition room warm, prepared and ready to go.

All auditioning students must have their costume measurements taken in their warmup studio before leaving the studio. Each audition will consist of welcome/devotion, introductions/prayer, dance/choreography, and acting/performance exercises.

Dancers age 14+ who have not previously been a member of FYDC must also sign up to perform a prepared variation during the audition process. If a student is a returning member of the company and wishes to showcase additional styles (hip hop, Acro, modern, special skills, etc.), those students are encouraged to perform a variation as well. (Students who would like to be considered for a pointe role should plan to perform a pointe variation.) Variations should not exceed 3 minutes in length, and should showcase your best style/skills.

What to Bring

There will be a $20 audition fee, which will cover registration and class costs. All students must complete and turn in an audition form for the applicable season. New students must provide a headshot and a photo in first arabesque.

Eligible students who would like to be considered for the FYDC Missions Team must also complete an FYDC Missions application in the applicable seasons. All audition forms will be collected during the first 15 minutes of the scheduled audition time.

What to Wear

All auditioning students should dress as they would for a classical ballet class. Modest coverups should be worn to and from the auditions, and may be worn during the acting/performance portion of the audition.

Students submitting a video audition must be recorded in appropriate dancewear for consideration. If the flooring in your available audition space isn't safely suited for dance shoes, please contact the director, FYDC, prior to submitting your video audition.
